Filo - Featured Vendor for November 2009

Featured Vendor - Filo (First In, Last Out)

Ginger Mulvey Beireis says, “ I am excited to be part of the continuing Renaissance of downtown! I returned from NYC to Clarksville to open the ROXY (with former partners Tom and John) in 1983. The next year I bought a house on Dog Hill, which fostered an appreciation of local historic architecture, antiques, art, and "cool old stuff." This eventually led to sharing finds at ARTifacts. Byers & Harvey co-worker Rebecca Bell has joined me in the FiLo venture, featuring collectibles and "things your Mama used to use." We hope you also enjoy our treasures, and enjoy exploring downtown Clarksville!”

Co Worker Gifts?

My mom used to call me each year asking for ideas about what to get her co workers for Christmas. She always wanted something special for the people she worked with for so many years. She would hope for a gift that would be special and unique - but not too expensive since she had to buy for so many. Each year we would get more creative trying to fulfill her needs.

If she hadn't retired last year, I would have been calling her to tell her about these pieces featured below. They fit the bill perfectly!

Rachel Wainwright has an amazing talent for taking vintage transferware dishes of all kinds, and making special and unique jewelry. Pieces starting at $5, they are a perfect gift.

Another great gift for your friends would be scarves from Eunice Kern. Eunice hand paints on silk and creates all kinds of works of art. Items ranging from barretts and pins, and colorful scarves and frame paintings.

Fun Holiday Items

Susan Davis is a newer vendor for us here at ARTifacts. She just totally changed out her booth there this past week. It is all ready for the holidays! I love how she takes regular items from our everyday uses and repurposes them to be a wonderfully creative decoration. I feel so festive already!

This lighted topiary is beautiful! It has the colorful floral at the top, with the art on the candle stick with Susans creative touch added to it.

This snowman teapot cracks me up! Carrot nose and wonderful teapot hat! She has a couple of these, one large one small.

Simple birdhouse in wonderful colors, wrapped in grapevine wreath - love the sweet country style of this piece.

This wonderful painting of "eight maids a milking" is a wonderful addition to your holiday decor.

I really enjoy the whimsical look of this chair with the vintage painted skate hanging from it.

Come see what else we have in store for you at ARTifacts.

Featured Artist this month, John Glass makes these amazing boxes by hand. Using materials that he salvage from Madison Street John creates flag boxes, tool boxes, blanket chests, secret boxes and decorative boxes.
Also featured at ARTifacts is John Glass. John states, “After the adventure and challenge of building our house, I made some furniture for it, bookcases and tables. Then I made some nest boxes for our neighors, the bluebirds. Then a friend asked me to make some display cases for him. Along the way, I rescued some beautiful old paneling from a church remodeling project I worked on and ended up incorporating that into some boxes I made. I found that I enjoyed making boxes, using various kinds of wood and experimenting with different finishes. A couple of years ago I added the challenge of designing secret compartments in the boxes. I enjoy the process of making these objects and I hope people take pleasure in the results."
