One of my good friends loves Mardi Gras, she lived in New Orleans for a few years - actually moved up here to Clarksville when she was displaced because of Katrina. She was here for 2 Mardi Gras, and I got to celebrate with her both years. I had never really gotten into Mardis Gras before - now I realize how fun it can be! The fun before the introspective time.
Of course, you have to have Comedy & Tradegy masks - or any kind of masks for Mardi Gras! These ceramic masks are one of a kind art by Erin Slauson. Erin does really fun/funky pottery. These masks are just some of her pieces.
FInally, I think about BRIGHT colors, mosaics, architecture. Here is a beautiful display bowl by our resident glass artist. Lee Ireland doesn't work with just style of glass, she does all kinds of glass art - and has even more ideas driving flying around in her head!
So that is just a few of the things I think of when I think about Mardis Gras.
So, let's have a Mardis Gras themed blog today. I think about Mardis Gras - and I think BEADS, MASKS, COLOR, UMBRELLAs, BANDS, etc....
Beads! Beads! Beads! Here are some pretty baubles here at ARTifacts! Becca Droge & Pat Jones have all kinds of pretty baubles for celebrating this festive time! And even better, you can wear them anytime, not just today!
